Santander’s summer festival counted more than 34.000 people, 6000 more than last year.



Last week-end the second edition of Santander (Spain) summer festival received more than 34,000 people, which is 6,000 more than the year before. Although the weather wasn’t as good as it could have been, almost 4,000 people took part in Thursday’s events, another 12,000 came along on Friday, followed by over 18,300 on Saturday.


The public had a great time there and the organizers were very content with how the festival played out. Numerous municipal services of the Spanish city had been working continuously on this project during this three-day festival, and that part of the success of this event was the result of their work. Moreover, not a single incident has been reported.


This festival, which was created for the commemoration of Santander’s 250th birthday, is now part of the most famous European musical events. Thanks to the various bands, like The Prodigy, Pet Shop Boys or Black Eyed Peas, which contributed to this second edition a highly diversified public came to assist in numerous rock, pop and electronic music concerts.

The bullfighter "Manolete" on the blockbuster.

Adrien Brody is currently screening Manolete, the life of the famous Spanish
bullfighter Manuel Rodriguez. Together with Penélope Cruz they are screening
the most romantic scenes of the movie in the beautiful town of Cádiz.










Experts predict that it will be one of the most succesful movies ever in
Spain
.


Manuel Rodriguez was one of the best bullfighters in Spain. He was famous
for his great personality and his unique abilities in front of the bull.

At 28th of August 1947 Manuel Rodriguez was killed by a bull called "Islero"
in Linares in the south of Spain. Since then Manuel Rodriguez has turned
into the greatest idol in Spanish bullfighting history.

Shakira kicks off her world tour in Zaragoza, Spain



Shakira has been trying to hide herself in Zaragoza for two weeks, something which is very difficult seeing she has sold more than 6 million copies of her latest album. Shakira has been preparing herself for her world tour ´Fijación Oral´in Zaragoza, the capital of Aragón. This Wednesday she kicks off her world tour in Spain, where she will give 12 concerts.

An exposition of Picasso to celebrate the 25th anniversary of ´Guernica´ in Spain.


It has been 25 years since the arrival of ´Guernica´, the famous painting by Picasso, in Spain. To celebrate this and also Pablo Picasso´s birth 125 years ago an exposition was opened, with more than 100 pieces of art of this painter. The exposition is named ´Picasso. Tradición y Vanguardia´ and is shown in both The Prado Museum and the Reina Sofia Museum.
The king and queen of Spain, accompanied by the Prime Minister, José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero and his wife Sonsoles, opened the exposition which will be opened for the public this Tuesday.
